Head Start of Muskegon/Oceana
Head Start of Muskegon/Oceana delivers a high quality program that enables children to achieve their full potential. It is a comprehensive child development program that serves income eligible preschool age children and their families.
The overall goal is to prepare children, emotionally, physically and intellectually for school. The program focuses on early childhood education and development, with medical, dental, mental health, and nutrition services. This family-centered program is provided in partnership with parents and the community. Parent involvement is encouraged in all aspects of the program, from classroom to decision making about program policies.
Muskegon Area Intermediate School District Head Start Program currently serves 924 three and four year old children from Muskegon and Oceana Counties. The classrooms are located in the local school districts as part of their early childhood program. Transportation is provided for all children. Children with disabilities are welcomed in the Head Start program and are supported by local school districts.
