Testing Out
Michigan law states that students can test out of high school courses by taking the final exam for a course before even starting to take that course. A grade of C or better allows the student to move to the next higher course in that subject area. Students interested in this option should ask their guidance counselors about it in the Spring of the year before the course they want to test out of starts.Dual Enrollment
Michigan law states that school districts must pay a portion of the tuition and fees for college courses that 11th and 12th grade students choose to take during the academic year as long as the courses are not offered at their school and as long as the students have taken all of the MEAP tests. Students should contact their high school guidance counselors for more information.Advanced Placement Courses
