For Educators
Education Through Music (ETM) Returns to the Lakeshore!
After a several year hiatus, Education Through Music returns to the Muskegon-Grand Haven area. This past fall, over forty local music specialists, self-contained classroom/special education teachers, and parents were ecstatic to find out they would no longer have to travel to Grand Rapids in order to participate in a program they are passionate about.
Why the excitement? Founded and pioneered by Mary Helen Richards, Education Through Music (ETM) offers a refreshingly different way to approach learning. The program frees teachers and parents to teach and parent in accordance with the joyful nature of their children.
ETM is a gateway for contemporary understanding of learning, motivation, child theory, and cognitive development.
Course Instructor, Randy A. McChesney, Executive Director of the Richards Institute of Education and Research, is a Master Teacher of Education Through Music. He also teaches at the University of Southern California in the School of Education. Randy comes to the Lakeshore four times a year, offering three to five sessions during each visit.
ETM participants may take the course for credit.
