Literacy Education

Regional Literacy Training Centers (RLTC) - Leadership for Literacy

RLTCThe Regional Literacy Training Centers of Michigan were created by the Department of Education to provide Professional Development to ensure that all teachers would have the knowledge and instructional skills, strategies and tools to deepen the knowledge of elementary and special education teachers concerning scientifically-based research in all of the critical components of effective literacy programs - phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary development, oral reading fluency, reading comprehension, spelling and writing.

Additional PD opportunities will extend teachers' and administrators' knowledge assessments and appropriate instructional connections. There are eight Regional Literacy Training Centers throughout the state of Michigan.
