West Michigan Science Challenge

West Michigan Science Challenge is an opportunity for students and student teams to become involved in creative problem solving in the areas of mathematics, science and engineering. Students develop science experiments and submit them for judging and exhibition, using methods similar to those employed by scientists.

Students in Muskegon, Oceana, Ottawa, or Newaygo Counties enrolled in grades 5 though 12 are eligible to enter, either individually or in teams of two. The contest is divided into four grade divisions (5-6, 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12) and five categories, Plant (non-animal) Biology), Human/Animal Biology, Behavior/Social Sciences, Physical Science, and Engineering/ Mathematics/Computer Science.
