Tablets - iPads & Android
The iPad is the most popular tablet for schools, however, the Android tablet has found adoption in some districts because of its lower price and better management options. The benefit of a tablet is it’s built-in camera, microphone, Internet browser, on-screen keyboard and apps. Tablets have found their place in Head Start, Early Head Start, Great Start Readiness, and K - 2 classrooms. It is interesting to note that K - 2 teachers are starting to prefer and request Chromebooks rather than tablets as they are easier to manage, less expensive, and include a built-in keyboard.
Managing what apps are installed onto a tablet usually requires a special program called a mobile device manager (MDM.) Additional information can be found at:
