Special Education Services
Assistance is provided to local districts and public school academies in developing and implementing programs and services for children ages pre-natal through 25 years old and their families. These programs and services are provided within a collaborative special education service delivery model that includes: Early On, Head Start, Special Education, and Transition.
The special education department provides leadership and expertise utilizing a knowledgeable consultant corps to address the following issues and needs: Behavioral Concerns, Autism, Early Childhood Mental Health, Augmentative/Assistive Communication needs, Curriculum development and implementation, Children/students with more intense medical needs, Early childhood care and development, Transition from school to community.

School Improvement
The school improvement process is mandated through P.A. 335 and 339. This legislation requires that all public schools and public school academies (PSA) have a school improvement team and a school improvement plan. This three to five year plan is to be updated yearly.
