Muskegon County Juvenile Transition Center

The Muskegon Juvenile Transition Center (MCJTC) is a 32 bed secured facility that provides secure detention, and residential treatment for males ages 10-17.  The MCJTC is a court operated facility, which functions under the auspices of Muskegon County Family Court.  Youth are referred to the MCJTC by the Family Court or one of its designees. Only youth who are accused of or adjudicated for law or probation violations or youth who have pick-up orders are placed in detention. The Muskegon County Juvenile Transition Detention Center’s purpose is to provide short-term care for youth requiring custody pending court hearings, disposition, or pending transfer to another jurisdiction or agency. During their time in residence at MCJTC, students take part in a comprehensive educational program operated by the Muskegon Area Intermediate School District (MAISD).
