2019-20 School Year

The Muskegon Area Intermediate School District is a regional educational service agency created by the legislature in 1962 to bring about quality and equitable educational opportunities to students and schools throughout the state. We provide leadership, programs, and services which that enhance the success of everyone we serve. Together we maximize resources, share best practices, solve problems, and save time and money.

The MAISD serves 12 public school districts within Muskegon County's 557 square miles. Approximately 26,703 public school, public school academy (charter), and nonpublic school students were enrolled for the 2019-20 school year. A total of 1,266 preschool students from Muskegon and Oceana counties were also enrolled in the Great Start Readiness and Head Start programs managed by the MAISD and delegate school districts. In addition, the MAISD operates the Career Tech Center which served 765 high school juniors and seniors in 2019-20, and Wesley School, Transition at Craig Campus, and Lakeshore Learning Center which served 175 students with physical and/or cognitive impairments.
